Mentor and composer Ben Ulyatt talks about 2 pieces that have influenced his music and interest him:
Meshuggah: Rational Gaze. Meshuggah’s heavy use of polyrhythms created complex textures I’d not really heard before, and led to a keen interest in all sorts of minimalist music, and use of polyrhythms in my own work.
Ligeti: Lux Aeterna. Ligeti uses pitch clusters and dense textures to create an otherworldly, alien soundworld, which gives an impression of vastness and eternity.
